Why free?

Because it should be.  Getting back in touch with old friends should be something you can do on the internet without having to pay an arm and a leg.  Can we make it work?  I think so.  For over 20 years I've made a living by writing shareware, where folks only pay if they find the software useful.  I'm hoping that concept will also work here and those who find our service useful will choose to support us.  There are many ways you can help and most won't cost you a penny.
 

How does the Reconnect process work?

To protect everyone's privacy, when you find someone you want to get back in touch with we act as a middleman allowing you to exchange messages without revealing your email address.  Should you decide to continue corresponding with them then you just put whatever contact information you want to share (your email address for example) into one of your free messages.  You can exchange up to ten messages per person contacted (send 5, receive 5) before having to decide if you want to share your contact information.

We never release your email address to anyone, that's your choice.  It's that simple.  Pricing is simple as well.  It's completely free!  (Although we do depend on the generous support of our members to stay in business)
 

How do I create additional waypoints to make it easier for others to find me?

Just Click My Account in the top menu and then Waypoints in the Account menu or just click here.
 

What is an Active Search?

An Active Search is a simply a search that we monitor for you.  We immediately notify you of any new matches by email.  Monitoring continues for two years and you can change the search criteria at any time.  It only costs two dollars - a buck a year.  To create one, just click Search in the upper menubar and when the search is complete select "Make this an Active Search"
 

How do I change what an Active Search monitors?

To change the search criteria for an Active Search just conduct the new search and follow the link for changing your Active Search to that search.
 

How can you do this when other sites are charging $30-$60 a year for less service?

Our costs are incredibly low.  We spend next to nothing on advertising but instead rely on friends telling friends.  Truth is, we don't need much.  We're hoping that with your support (there are multiple wasy you can help and most won't cost you a dime) we'll keep the site running.  We've been successfully doing business on the Internet for a long time and are dedicated to keeping this site running and Reconnects free.
